Vishwakarma Day, or Vishwakarma Jayanti, is an auspicious festival for people of the Hindu community. Lord Vishwakarma, regarded as swayambhu and creator of the world, is worshipped on this auspicious day. According to sacred Hindu tradition, Vishwakarma is the Divine Engineer of the world. Son of Brahma, Lord Vishwakarma, is one of the fourteen precious things born of the Samudra Manthan. He is the divine craftsman of the whole universe, the builder of the holy city of Dwarka, where Lord Krishna ruled and the official creator of all the gods’ palaces.
Vishwakarma day holds great significance among the worker community factories, shops and industries. The majority of enterprises and industrial communities partake in the celebration. On this day, the workers of various factories and industrial areas refrain from using any tools. Workers pray for a better future, safe working conditions and, above all, success in their respective fields. They also pray for the smooth functioning of various machines.
Vishwakarma puja is celebrated a day after Diwali, along with Govardhan puja, between October and November.
